Don Barnes is the Heavy Equipment Repair instructor at TTCP and brings with him 22 years teaching experience. Before teaching, he was self-employed and owned his own business. Prior to that, he worked for the John Deere Company for a total of 33 years in the mechanic field.

Don and his wife, Diane, have two sons. Don enjoys farming, fishing and showing livestock at the County Fair.

The mission of the Heavy Equipment Program is to train individuals with sufficient education, proper
worker characteristics and the desire to enter the labor market as heavy equipment repairers.

Do you like working with your hands? Are you mechanically inclined? Do you like challenges? If so, the Heavy Equipment Program may be just for you.

The Heavy Equipment field offers a wide range of job opportunities nationwide such as construction equipment repair, over the road tractor/trailer repair, and farm equipment repair. Or you can go into a specialized field such as the rebuilding of diesel pumps, transmissions, or engines. You could also become an electronic engine control analyzer specialist. The list is endless.
