COURSE DESCRIPTION

MANT 1100 PROFESSIONAL IMAGE
Professional ethics and conduct toward clients, employers, and co-workers along with professional appearance will be covered.  This will prepare student for a career as a Nail Technician.  Theory only.
MANT 1110 BACTERIOLOGY AND SANITATION
A study of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.  Student will learn the importance of sanitation and how it related to the nail industry.  Theory only.
MANT 1115 SALON SAFETY
Student will learn how to protect themselves as well as the client during services.  Several aspects of safety will be covered such as ventilation control, etc.  Theory only.
MANT 1120 SCIENCE OF NAIL TECHNOLOGY
Chemical of the nail products such as matter and energy, molecules, primers, etc. will be covered along with skin problems such as dermatitis.  Anatomy/Physiology will be covered at this time as well.  Student will study cells, organs, and all the systems in the body.  Theory only.
MANT 1125 MANICURING
Plain manicure procedures, finishing the nails, and paraffin wax treatment are a few topics to be covered in manicuring.  Theory and practical.
MANT 1130 PEDICURING
Pedicuring procedure, foot massage soaks, and scrubs will be covered during Pedicuring.  Theory and practical.
MANT 1140 DISORDERS OF SKIN AND NAIL
Normal and abnormal nail anatomy will be covered along with a study of the skin and its disorders such as fungal infections, lesions of the skin, and infection disorders.
MANT 1145 CLIENT CONSULTATION
Student will learn how to meet the needs of their client and maintain good records.  Theory and practical.
MANT 1150 ELECTRIC FILING
Student will explore all the types of electric files and how to use them safely and effectively.  Theory and practical.
MANT 1155 AROMATHERAPY
Recipes for manicures and pedicures will be explored with the use of aromatherapy oils.  Theory only.
MANT 1160 NAIL TIPS
Nail tip application, tip post service and maintenance of tips will be taught.  Theory and practical.
MANT 1200 NAIL WRAPS
The different types of wraps that will be taught are fabric, paper, and liquid wraps.  Theory and practical.
MANT 1210 ACRYLIC NAILS
All types of acrylic nails will be taught such as odorless, light cured, colored acrylics, and dipping methods.  Theory and practical.
MANT 1215 GEL NAILS
Light cured gel, gel maintenance, no light gels, and fiberglass/silk wraps will be covered.  Theory and practical.
MANT 1220 NAIL ART
Several aspects of nail art will be explored such as airbrushing, free hand painting, and the traditional French manicure.  Theory and practical.
MANT 1225 BUSINESS OF NAIL TECHNOLOGY
Salon business and selling products will be covered.  Students will learn how to keep good records and be successful as a salon owner or employer.  Theory only.
